Pyrophyllite Cubic Press Block
Hope Pyrophyllite Synthetic Block is made from high-purity pyrophyllite, offering excellent strength, heat stability, and machinability. Ideal for HPHT diamond and cBN synthesis as a reliable pressure-support material.
Pyrophyllite shares a visual appearance similar to talc, and many of its physical properties closely resemble those of talc as well. It exhibits a natural whiteness ranging from 25° to 90°, with a loss on ignition of approximately 4%–6%. Pyrophyllite offers excellent heat resistance, with refractoriness reaching up to 1690 °C. Its Mohs hardness is relatively low, at about 1–2, and it has a density (specific gravity) of 2.8–2.9.
Applications of Pyrophyllite
1. Refractory Applications
Pyrophyllite is rich in silicon dioxide and aluminum oxide and does not melt when exposed to high temperatures. It serves as an important raw material for the production of aluminum silicate refractory products. Key quality requirements include strict limits on iron oxide content, typically with aluminum oxide (Al₂O₃) ≥ 24% and iron oxide (Fe₂O₃) controlled to ensure refractoriness above 1670 °C.
2. Pyrophyllite is widely used in the manufacture of both household ceramics and architectural ceramics.
3. It can be processed into various handicrafts and decorative products.
4. Pyrophyllite is utilized in the artificial diamond manufacturing process.
5. It serves as a raw material in the production of glass fibers.
